Our Plan in Brief

If you’re looking for a quick overview before you check out the plan itself, here are the top 5 things you need to know:

  1. We plan to start classes on Aug. 29 and provide on-campus offerings through May 6.

  2. Multi-layer face coverings are required unless waived by the instructor in instructional settings, including classrooms and labs, and in individual offices unless waived by the relevant employee. They are optional and welcomed in other indoor settings.

  3. All students who plan to attend class or participate in on-campus activities must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (and upload vaccine card info to the UMS online portal) or obtain a System-approved exemption by Aug. 31, 2022.

  4. We will conduct arrival testing for residential students. In terms of testing throughout the fall, we will conduct COVID-19 symptomatic testing only, starting Aug. 29. This testing will be available at the Health Center in Emerson Annex.

  5. Classes will be a mix of live, online, and hybrid–simultaneously in-person and virtual.

We want to emphasize that these are our plans right now, but that, due to the nature of this pandemic, all plans are subject to change.
