COVID-19 Vaccine Info for the UMPI community

The University of Maine System has launched a “This Is Our Shot, Maine” vaccination drive and we’re reaching out to all UMPI students, faculty, and staff to help.

With so many able to get their COVID-19 vaccines, we’re continuing to encourage as many students and employees as possible to get vaccinated, so we can have the safest year possible.

— UMPI President Ray Rice

Please make plans as soon as you can to get your COVID-19 vaccine. There are several vaccine sites in the local area:

  • Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital (for the Presque Isle area)
  • Houlton Regional Hospital (for the Houlton area)
  • Walgreens (Maine residents only)
  • Walmart

Linda Mastro, UMPI Director of Health Services, serves as our campus point of contact for vaccine questions. She can be reached at linda.mastro@maine.edu or by calling 768-9586.

Please note:
All students and employees are required to submit proof of their COVID-19 vaccinations on the UMS online portal or request an exemption.  There are medical, religious, and online-only exemptions.

A few important things to note:

  • Vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) require two shots, several weeks apart. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires one shot. Individuals can receive a booster shot 5 months after receiving their Pfizer or Moderna second shot or 2 months after receiving their Johnson & Johnson shot.

  • If you’re under 18, parental/guardian consent is required.

  • To get your shots, here are three potential options, depending on if you are local, from outside of Aroostook County, or out-of-state:
